I didn't check the IGS file, only the STEP file. Sorry for failing to follow the posting rules.ĭrive body example.jpg (91.77 KiB) Viewed 8478 times The bottom image shows my current attempts to fill this hole. The top 3 images show the part and the hole I need to fill has an arrow point to it.

I can not figure out how to create a regular solid.Īnyway, any suggestions or pointers? Is there a smart way to do this? Can I create objects out of the negative space? Can a create a sketch from a face? This is preventing me from doing any kind of Boolean operations on it. I wanted therefore to make the object a little bit larger than what i needed, so as to overlap with the edges of the original object, and I planned to merge them with a bollean union, leading to my next problem.Ģ)The main object appears to be a compound object. I have run into two major problems with this approach.ġ) I am not sure the object I am creating to fill the whole is a perfect fit, and as I have never used CAD before, I am not sure how this will effect the final outcome. I have tried using the Part workbench "advanced utility to create shapes" to create a shell of the hole i need to fill from the outside faces of the object, then used sketches, padding, and boolean operations to trim this object down to something closely fitting the whole. I have run into a few problems with this. (These can be saved through the raw file link.) Basically, I need to fill the hole in the bottom of this figure, and then make some of my own holes. The part was created using solidworks (I do not have access to this software) but has also been made available as. I am doing basic research and would like to modify a 3D printable part to meet our needs. I am a complete beginner to CAD and FreeCAD.
